Kinfire, Early Voting and into Week 9.

Image
Another successful weekend and successful Kinfire battle! I voted early, finished my taxes, which were accepted (both federal and state!) as well as got the Tim Ferriss salad lesson done. Kinfire battle: I also got my car inspected on Thursday morning - passed. And Friday morning, the brake shuddered at the top of a hill and the ABS light went on. I knew I could still drive my car - ABS is pretty recent, my first car didn't have that, so I headed to early vote. It's only 6 miles away. C'mon, what can go wrong? Luckily nothing went wrong , but for a trip I've done multiple times (early voting center is near other places I've gone) it was impressive. First, a guy really threatened to pull out in front of me after doing a fast u-turn in a subdivision entrance, secondly an ambulance came up behind me while stopped at an intersection, so I had to go into the intersection while red, and thirdly, geese. Ugh. Geese. Those guys do whatever they want. They walked in front of ...

Games, Board and Video plus the start of Week 8

Had a pretty good week overall. Made progress on goals, had an excellent steak dinner at Flemings, and was able to finish Hero of the Kingdom this week.  Played another round of Kinfire Chronicles, and the Beast was stunned, but not defeated. The battle was lost - annoyingly due to the randomness of picking tokens from a bag. The bag consists of 14 enemy tokens, 12 player tokens and three time tracker tokens (so you'll never be able to predict gameplay near the end of the bag). The first battle drew 12 enemy tokens, 3 time tracking tokens and only 3 player tokens. For the second phase of the battle, in which the enemy's health was refreshed (and the players' health were not) the enemy tokens pulled were 9, and 2 player tokens before death and a loss. When the enemy gets 4 turns to 1 of yours, it doesn't matter how clever or well you play, you're going to lose. I don't know if it was just bad luck or if some house ruling needs to be put into place here. I played ...

Successful Sunday

I slept well, which meant I got up at a reasonable time and was able to get PT and piano done before lunch, with a walk afterward. The evening was taken up by a new board game, the Kinfire Chronicles. It took a little bit of time to read the directions and set up the board, but most of the time was playing quest 1. The mechanics are a little different from other games I've played, but the dragon was defeated and I'm looking forward to quest 2!  Week 4: Become a certified Power BI Data Analyst Quarter 1: Finish Power BI Skill Track and do exercises in  The Definitive Guide to DAX  MS Learn Quarter 1: Finish Power BI Skill Track and do exercises in MS Learn Power BI Skill Track  100% Get Started With MS Data Analytics  100% Prepare Data for Analysis with Power BI  15% Model Data with Power BI  0% Build Power BI Visuals and Reports  0% Manage Workspaces and Semantic Models  0% Have a similar level of fitness as my exercise partner Quarter ...

Slower Sunday and Start of Week 3

Image
What a lovely Sunday! I don't have many tasks that must be done so I get to relax. The gathering yesterday was a lot of fun and everyone had a great time. I was able to conquer most everything on my list except for PT, which is getting more urgent as my next appointment is on Wednesday. I must get stronger! Let's see how Week 2 went: Week 2: Become a certified Power BI Data Analyst Quarter 1: Finish Power BI Skill Track and do exercises in The Definitive Guide to DAX Complete Case Study Analyzing Job Market Data in Power BI (Only got halfway though the course as I had too many support calls at work. Hoping to finish it up this week.) Have a similar level of fitness as my exercise partner Quarter 1: Create daily PT exercises habit Find three separate times to do 33% of my exercises (This was mostly successful, but was difficult to achieve during the weekend. Much better than weeks prior, and I'm happy about that.) Achieve intermediate level playing for piano Quar...
